Arab HealthThis year edition of the annual Arab Health medical equipment fair was organized in Dubai (UAE) between January 28 and 31, 2013. The fair attended by the most significant manufacturers of medical equipment in the world is a meeting place for the manufacturers and local Middle East companies.

NCBJ was present at the fair to promote results achieved within the medical part of the AiD project. In particular, a model of the Inline PN50 device and a model of the Coline 6 accelerator were presented in the NCBJ booth. Inline PN50 is a novel X-ray electronic source for intra-operative brachytherapy of breast cancers in women. Highly-specialized Coline 6 medical accelerator produces beams of ionizing radiation useful in radiotherapy of majority of cancers. One of its main advantages is that its design allows to expand it to perform some highly-specialized and precise irradiation techniques (IMRT, IGRT) capable to deposit ionizing energy just inside the treated tumours. Because of that Coline 6 may be an entry-level radiation treatment equipment for a start-up clinic if budget for initial investment outlays is limited. Once experience is acquired by the staff and more funds are collected, the accelerator may be easily expanded to broaden its application range.

Both presented constructions stirred great interest among visitors of the NCBJ booth, which fact illustrates how attractive technical solutions developed within the AiD project are and what their market potential might be. It may be worth pointing out that we have been present on some Middle Eat markets already for several years: NCBJ-manufactured equipment is currently operated in Iran, Syria, Turkey, and Sudan. Constructions developed within framework of the AiD project may help to strengthen and expand that presence.

NCBJ booth was a part of Polish pavilion on the Arab Health fair, in which several Polish companies arranged their exhibitions.
